Tohu Wines is the world’s first Maori-owned and operated wine label. Since 1998, Tohu has focused on creating internationally-acclaimed wines from premium sites located across the top of the South Island. The Tohu winemaking philosophy is to create wines that capture the flavours of each vineyard’s unique environment, while upholding respect and protection of the land for future generations.
Based out of our modern winery in Marlborough’s beautiful Awatere Valley, we produce a range of award-winning, cool-climate wines including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Méthode Traditionnelle, and Pinot Noir.
We are looking for dedicated and hardworking Vintage Cellar Hands to join us in our Awatere Valley winery from mid-February to mid-April 2027.
Applicants must be physically fit and able to work long hours, as during the peak of vintage you’ll be required to work 12 hour shifts, 6 to 7 days a week. To be considered for this position you must also have strong attention to detail, excellent English, and most importantly a passion for wine and winemaking. Previous winery experience with a minimum of one vintage would be an advantage.
If successful, you’ll enjoy working with fruit from great vineyards from across Marlborough and Nelson and will be involved in many, maybe all, aspects of the winemaking process. As part of your package we will help with finding accommodation, provide meals during your shift, and provide transport to and from the winery. You’ll be part of a small and dedicated team, so a hands-on approach and a positive attitude is essential.
To apply submit your current CV with a cover letter that includes the details of your ability to work in New Zealand.
